This story begins long ago, long before most of you even heard of the realm of Shadowgate. One stormy evening a child was born to family of paladins upon this birth the mother and father could see the blackness in their baby's heart. The mother and father banished their new born son and left him to die out in the woods. This baby slowly grew and found his way to the town of Shadow. It is in this town that he began to feel the urges of evil coming out of him and it is here that he began he training as an anti-paladin. It is also here that he chose his name and he chose Seraph!
Soon into his training Seraph began to hate the use of bladed weapons and tried to begin using a staff. It was then that he knew that he did not fit in with the other anti-paladins and he began his search for a new life one that fit him and benefited him the most. It did not take long for him to find a new life, because the Great God of War was also looking for someone to follow him into greatness. Tempus offered Seraph the chance at power beyond his beliefs it was then that he finally felt at home. This change also changed Seraph's heart he was no longer evil Tempus had made him Neutral and this made Seraph an even more powerful follower.
Now as a cleric of Tempus, Seraph could atleast follow his dreams of greatness and pursue his goal of ultimate power. He spent many years training and growing, until he was accepted into a guild named The Fallen Angels, it was in this guild that he would experience his first feeling of power and leadership. Seraph was not a member of the Angels for long when he was offered a High Command position and this made him believe that he could grow even more powerful.
Seraph met many people while an HC of the Angels, some of which are still around even today. He managed to make some friends that he would trust with his life. These friends Zero, Beowulf, Galahad, Duncan, and Vethor helped him grow even more and begin what would be one of the greatest reigns of power that this realm had ever seen. Soon into his reign Seraph was wandering the forest and stumbled upon a dragon. When he attacked this dragon to test his power he found out that the dragon was good thus causing him to change back to an evil soul once again.
Now being evil Seraph left the Angels but on good terms. He then joined The Shades of Death and it was here that he began his reign of terror. Although he was now evil, Seraph never lost sight of ultimate power. It was this lust for power that caused him to challenge his friend Beowulf and thus Beowulf removed him from the Shades of Death. Being removed did not deter him though because he was welcomed back into the Angels with open arms. Even though he was removed from the pack some of the members of the pack had become everlasting friends, because it was there that he met Gal and Lanfear.
Although Seraph was welcomed back into the Angels something was wrong, his life, his power and his essence was fading from the realm of Shadowgate. Seraph fought as hard as he could and he used everything he knew to try to save his life but nothing worked. In a short time Seraph went from being a feared enemy for most in Shadow to being just a distant memory.
Many years passed and Seraph wandered aimlessly in an endless void of blackness. It is in this void that he began to hate and despise the people of Shadow. This hatred caused Seraph to be found by yet another God and this god Xvim would bring him back to Shadow and increase his hatred towards others. Even though consumed mostly by hate, Seraph still had his friends, and it is with three of these friends Beowulf, Zero, and Anna that he began a new guild and this guild would be named The Legion of Lost Souls. Now, Seraph would again begin his reign of terror and again try to claim his goal of ultimate power.
Following a new God with new beliefs it did not take long for Seraph to become as powerful as he was before. On his way to his goal he again came across the same problem he had experienced once before. Seraph was again fading from the realm of Shadowgate and again there was nothing he could do about it. He would not give up without a fight and he would not leave without the guarantee that he would return someday to reclaim what was his and to overcome his only flaw.
This Flaw that had now been his downfall twice would be the one thing that would someday bring him back and make him stronger than he had ever been before. Seraph had discovered what had destroyed him now a second time. What was this flaw that had destroyed him twice now, I bet all of you would like to know, that way it could be used against him once again. This flaw was his inability to control the power that he had acquired. Seraph spent many years think and learning to try to figure out a way to control the power that he can acquire. After many years of research, Seraph began to lose his hatred and began to feel himself changing back into what Tempus had once made him.
It is now that Seraph finally understood what had destroyed him both times. It was his pure unbridled evil. Now knowing his one fault he began his quest to defeat this fault. Seraph spent many more years learning to overcome his fault. Unknown to Seraph was that during his time away from Shadow someone had still been watching him from afar. One day this someone appeared, it was Tempus there to offer Seraph another chance at life in Shadowgate. Again following the leadership of Tempus, Seraph began his long journey back to Shadow.
It took him several years but he made it, once again he was in Shadow. Being back in the one place he felt home Seraph will now reclaim what was his and what he believes should be his. This time though there is no evil in his heart. He had finally defeated what his parents had banished him for at his birth. Although he is no longer evil Seraph still could not be a paladin due to his own nature he still has to be Neutral. It is this that will let him wander back into the lives of those that believed they would never see him again.
Seraph was once a great and powerful cleric and he was a second time. The only question now is can he do it one more time. Will the third time be the one that counts, will he finally reach his goal of ultimate power, or will his one flaw overcome him once again leaving him to waste away into nothing! Also will he be able to overcome any punishments that may await him for his previous deeds. Time will only tell, but you are welcome to come to your own conclusions.
