The traffic on these is predominately from individuals fascinated by the mystique and potential of steam power. These searchers have found so little accurate and practical information that they have formed a mythology of steam power from the misinformation of popular stories, of short-lived promotional ventures and from well-meaning but erroneous journalists. It is important in a technical archive to indicate the level of technical accuracy of the material being presented in a practical manner, just as a reputable dealer in antiques will indicate the accuracy of the reputed origin of a piece.
