White Steam Cars

Rollin White was the engineering genius behind White steam cars, the Cletrac tractor and a number of other interests. On May 4, 2011, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. His underfired monotube steam generator and, especially, the control system for it improved each year between 1899 and 1912 and, though the cars increased vastly in size and performance, the fuel economy and ability to condense improved right along.

Nomination of Rollin Henry White for Induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
